Punjab National Bank (PNB) increased the charges for various services and the bank recently informed about it. With effect from 15.01.2022, the Bank is going to increase the charges on certain services related to regular banking operations.
The average quarterly balance increased from 5,000 to 10,000 in the metro area.
Charges for not keeping a minimum balance in the account
The fee for non-maintenance of the minimum balance has been increased to Rs 400 in rural areas and to Rs 600 in urban and metro areas on a quarterly basis.
Bank locker charge
The bank also increased the cost of renting cabinets in rural, semi-urban, urban and metro areas. Cabinet fee in urban areas has increased by Rs 500.
Free visit to a bank locker
The number of free visits will be reduced to 12 each year from 15 January 2021, with a charge of Rs 100 per visit thereafter. Earlier, the number of visits to the lockers per year was set at 15 free visits per year.
Closing current accounts
Current accounts closed after 14 days will have to pay a fine of Rs 800. Earlier it was 600 Rs. However, accounts that close after 12 months will not be charged any fees.
Transaction commissions in savings accounts
From 15 January, PNB customers can make 3 free transactions per month and then be charged Rs 50 per transaction (excluding alternative channels such as BNA, ATM and CDM), which does not apply to senior citizens’ accounts.
Cash management charges
The bank also reduced the cash deposit limit on both savings and current accounts. The free deposit limit per day has been reduced to Rs 1 lakh from the existing Rs 2 lakh.
