The limit for unsecured loans for short-term agricultural loans has been raised from Rs 1.00 lakh to Rs 1.60 lakh. KCC (Kisan Credit Card Yojana) has been expanded for livestock farmers and farmers engaged in fishing. A simple one-sided special application form has also been produced and shared with the banks.

The Government of India is also implementing the interest rate subsidy system with the aim of providing short term agricultural loans to the farmers at favorable interest rates. Under the Kisan credit card Yojana, short-term harvest loans of up to Rs 3 lakh are available through the KCC at a 9% reference rate for farmers engaged in agriculture and other allied activities. The Government of India provides a 2% interest rate subsidy at the reference rate. Farmers are also given an extra discount of 3% instead of fast and quick loan repayment, which lowers the effective interest rate to 4% per annum (Kisan credit card).
