Application for Antyodaya Anna Yojana
The eligible rural beneficiary must contact the Gram Sabha concerned to apply for AAY (Antyodaya Anna Yojana). The beneficiary will be selected as follows. In the case of an urban area, the applicant must visit the urban development department for the application.
Beneficiary identification
Under this system (Antyodaya Anna Yojana), AAY families are identified by the state government or union territory administration. Beneficiaries are identified from the number of BPL families within the state.
Probable list of beneficiaries – rural
- The state government and union territories alternately distribute this number to different districts and further to panchayats and municipalities.
- The district collector will start the process of identifying the beneficiary by giving it wide publicity.
- At the block level, each panchayat is assigned an income manager.
- The tax office will prepare a preliminary list of the poorest of the poor, taking into account the total number of families allocated to the panchayat.
- Once the preliminary list for Panchayat is prepared, a meeting for Gram Sabha will be held.
- Once the list has been approved by Gram Sabha and will be consolidated at the block level and then at the district level. The benefit list will be approved by the state government.
Probable list of beneficiaries – urban area
The beneficiary will be identified by the Executive Director of the local cities. Broad publicity should be given to the preliminary list of beneficiaries and also displayed at the parish level and calls for objections. After going through the process, the consolidated list of local local bodies (Antyodaya Anna Yojana) and its approval were obtained.
